This property is located on a pie shaped cul-de-sac lot and thus the lot is larger than the standard .25 acre for most Sanibel homes. The lot is approximately 0.28 acre, about 12,200 square feet, but a land survey would be needed to confirm this, as this approximation is just an ball-park estimate.

Sanibel is a unique destination, a rural beach retreat, very different from the rest of Florida Gulf Islands. There are no traffic signals on Sanibel. Two thirds of Sanibel is a nature preserve with Ding Darling Federal Wildlife Refuge as the crown jewel. Sanibel has about 25 miles of bicycle and walking paths. Growth on Sanibel is currently capped and there are no high rise buildings, nothing higher than about 40 feet is allowed. There are approximately 9,000 dwellings on Sanibel, 6,000 of which are condominiums (mostly on the Eastern end of the Island) and 3,000 private homes.

Sanibel and Captiva Islands have been recognized in Conde Nást Traveler magazine's 2005 and 2004 Reader's Choice Awards ranking of the Top-10 North American Islands list. The popular travel magazine surveyed its 771,000 readers asking them to rate their favorite island destinations for scenery, friendliness, lodging, restaurants and activities. Sanibel ranked 4th and 5th while Captiva came in at 8th. Referring to the islands as "newcomers among established stars", other prominent vacation destinations on the list included Vancouver Island, Nantucket, Hilton Head, Prince Edward Island and Kiawah, S.C.

Life Magazine Jan 13, 2006 issue ranked Sanibel Island in its top ten US beach destinations.

This home is currently fully available for high season 2009 (Nov 2008 through April 2009, approximately. As the owners and managers, we are seeking guests who would like a long term (3-6 months or more) rental.

Because we have been renting our Sanibel private homes since 1999, please keep in mind that we receive many requests for full season rentals, with the requests peaking in number from September through November 2008. While I try to answer each and every email - I don't always get to answer every single one.

Keep in mind that the City of Sanibel requires private homes to rent for a minimum of 4 weeks by City LAW - we cannot rent less than 28 nights.
